It’s A Lovely Day to Sit on the Porch and Blog.
The Midwest is seeing some beautiful weather, so I’ll come at you live from my porch. After some surfing of the web, I found an article that made me laugh. Apparently about two and a half years ago, some Hungarian carpenters were working on a house while drinking a barrel of rum. At the bottom of this barrel, they found a corpse. Apparently a woman had shipped her dead husband in the barrel so that she could avoid the paperwork of shipping a dead body internationally. The workers were quoted as saying the rum had a “special taste” and even bottled some to take home with them.
Alright, as funny as that is, is it cannibalism? I mean, No, they weren’t directly eating someone, and yes, the alcohol probably preserved the body, but something about that just seems wrong. Also, how did they not notice that there was a BODY in the barrel? I’m guessing there was no way to see inside, but wouldn’t it be unusually heavy? That’s eventually how they found him, so I suppose until they tried to move the barrel there was no way to know.
All in all, I found the whole situation to be rather ridiculous, and maybe I won’t drink rum for a while…or anything I find in a random barrel in a house that doesn’t belong to me.
But I suppose it’s all in how you look at it.
